Competition results
Our first competition has now closed and the results are out. I can say it was a successful event and showed some surprising results.
The question was designed to make you think and a bit tricky in that it was how many MP3 files you could get on a 1Gb device not one of the same size as the 2Gb prize device.
The answer; you would expect to get just over 100 MP3 files sampled at 128khz, the same rate as iTunes uses.
Well who had the correct answers.
UK Government - 195 memory sticks have also been lost or stolen since 2002
ITN has reported that official figures show 1,774 Government laptops and 1,035 desktop computers have been lost or stolen since 2002, more than 400 a year.
And over the same period, some 676 mobile phones, 202 hard drives and 195 memory sticks have also been lost or stolen.
What a surprise, the worst offender was the Ministry of Defence, which has seen 866 laptops stolen and 178 lost, as well as 157 desktops stolen and seven lost.
So here are almost another 200 situations where USBStickfinder recovery of a memory stick could have saved some embarrassment.

Assuring FREEPOST return service levels
On setting up USBStickfinder I was always concerned that I could not assure the level of service offered by the Royal Mail through the FREEPOST return service. Which is what finders of any lost devices would use to return recovered devices.
Out of the blue I was recently given the opportunity to take part in a Royal Mail service study. Lo and behold I could now verify that the USBStickfinder recovery service actually worked and have it verified by an independent organisation.
