There is no doubt that the humble USB memory stick has become something of a phenomenon over the past few years, being the product of choice when it comes to backing up and transporting data.

But for 'power users' you can get much more from your stick, host anything from a few utility programs, through to a complete office suite on a stick or even a complete operating system.

Anyway there are several websites that can help you and provide applications that can make your life somewhat easier.

The first is the official site of PortableApps where their applications are integrated into their excellent application launcher. It can include a backup utility, games, utilities and even the complete OpenOffice suite.

There is also the massive archive at the Portable Freeware collection where you can get an application for virtually any task you could think of.

The great thing is if you don't like what you have downloaded simply delete the directory and your back where you started and your PC installation is left untouched.
